Thank you!

We owe a debt of gratitude to every person and organisation, friends of Kiwi PyCon and New Zealand Python User Group, who have generously given us their time, experience, knowledge, and invaluable advice to make this conference a much better one.  The unlucky ones stand on the shoulders of giants. Kiwi PyCon X was lifted up by dear friends, admired colleagues, and our loved ones.

From the bottom of our hearts, from everyone at Kiwi PyCon X and NZPUG, huge thanks go to:

  • Kate Pearce, for her wisdom regarding how to step onto the road of running an inclusive conference.
  • Mike Forbes, for his generous advice over the phone and for pointing us in of the direction of...
  • Nat Dudley's and her extraordinary guide "Do Better at Conference Diversity", which is published at  The Hopper Fund
  • BSides Wellington and Kiwicon for blazing the trail and their outstanding example. The wonderful Kiwicon/Kawaiicon crüe also recommended the childcare people.
  • Hanna Foxwell, for her extraordinary article “Should Tech Conferences Be More Inclusive” and for the amazing and inspirational inclusivity at DevOpsDays London (we so copied some of your stuff whanau).
  • Jennifer Riggins, for her inspirational article "How to Design Inclusion into a Tech Event", festooned with examples from the best all over the world.
  • Jodie Garrett, from Nightcaps in Southland, who advised us on the design of sensory friendly spaces and the strict requirements of running a crechè.
  • Julie for making tactile boards for the sensory room.
  • Thomi Richards, NZPUG Secretary, who slammed the gauntlet of diversity onto the table and said "we must do better".
  • Qiang and his staff for an awesome dinner and for generously providing bar tabs for the Python quiz.
  • Ryan with his video crew Doris, Jamie, Rosemary, Chelsea and Lucy.
  • Matt for designing the t-shirt plus so many other things and for saving our necks more than once.
  • Will for designing the programme.
  • Bo for directing the CfP evaluation process impeccably by keeping all the judges on the straight and narrow.
  • Chris, Rob, Carlos and Eric, the aforementioned judges, for the talk reviews.
  • Tom and Carlos for speaker mentoring.
  • Wendy and Yi Mei for organising the production of the goodies bags.
  • Cecilia and Doris for running the registration desk.
  • Kristina, Jonathan and Ben for being our awesome photographers.
  • Simon for coming up with CodeWars tasks and Quiz questions.
  • Cecilia, Bo, and Suliac for packing the goodies bags and making sure everyone gets their t-shirt in the right size.
  • Max and Bo for coming up with the idea and developing the Kiwi PyCon X mobile app.
  • Bo, Suliac and Srikanth for setting up the sensory room.
  • and all the people who jumped in when we needed a hand!
We also wish to thank the generous people who have bought a Contributor ticket and thus helped to subsidise the attendance of others and top up our financial aid programme.

Finally, as it is our traditional cri de cœur, to everyone who is coming for being Kiwi PyCon.

He aha te mea nui o te ao?
He tangata, he tangata, he tangata.
