Our Reflections a Year After the 15th of March 2019 Mosque Attacks
Tēnā koutou,
One year after the tragic events at the Masjid Al Noor and Linwood Mosque in Christchurch, we look back with sorrow for the lives lost, with compassion towards those still suffering the consequences, and with empathy towards the families and friends of everyone affected. We also look forward with hope. We do so in admiration of our New Zealand Muslim community which from the first moment responded to hatred with peace and with love, and continues to do so to this day.
Let us all pause for a moment of reflection and give ourselves the opportunity to reaffirm a commitment to foster openness and respect in our places of work, our schools, our playgrounds, and everywhere else where we gather. Let us reaffirm the conviction that we are all equally human, equally precious, and equally New Zealanders.
Of all our goals, the one of building a community where we are all valued and feel rich in the bounty of our diversity, is the one that the New Zealand Python User Group recognises as being paramount. We invite you to join us in meeting this goal.
Peace be upon you, and mercy, and blessings.
