Poster Sessions at Kiwi PyCon

May 15, 2016 by Tom Clark

You're doing something interesting related to Python. Kiwi PyCon is an opportunity to share it with the community. Some people do this by giving engaging talks, but giving a talk isn't for everyone. Maybe your topic doesn't work well in a talk format, or maybe you'd rather discuss it one-on-one or in small groups rather than addressing a large audience. If that's the case, then you should consider presenting in our poster session.

Presenting at Kiwi PyCon is a great experience. Besides sharing what you know, it's also a way to get advice and feedback from others, to encourage others to participate in your project, or just a way to get a conversation started with other conference delegates. Giving a talk at Kiwi PyCon may not be the best choice for you in 2016, but that doesn't mean that you can't participate. Presenting at our poster session is another good option. We will have a session on the Saturday afternoon of the conference where presenters will display their posters and be on hand to discuss them with interested people.

So, how do you get involved in Kiwi PyCon poster sessions this year?

  1. Come up with an idea for something to share.
  2. Submit a poster session proposal by 25 July.
  3. Come to Kiwi PyCon in Dunedin with your poster in September.
  4. Present your poster at our poster session on Saturday, 10 September.
  5. Bask in the glory of presenting at Kiwi PyCon!

The NZ Python community is about participation. There are many ways to participate and all are valued. Presenting a poster at Kiwi PyCon is a terrific opportunity for you to participate in our shared conference in 2016. We look forward to seeing you there.
