Sensory Room
at Kiwi PyCon
Conferences can be loud, busy, crowded places, and not all of us tolerate them equally well.
For people with sensory processing disorder (SPD), social anxiety, myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and for all others who can also get easily overwhelmed by crowded, chaotic, unpredictable spaces, conferences can be daunting.
This is why this year at Kiwi PyCon X we are introducing a sensory room. A quiet, darkened, comfortable space, where one can go to have a quiet time and to decompress from the hustle and bustle of the conference. We hope our sensory room makes Kiwi PyCon X more comfortable, safer, and welcoming for you.
With a complement of fluffy blankets for your comfort and four tactile boards.
Truly fluffy, 580 grams per square metre, blankets, for your use in whichever way soothes you.
The tactile boards were especially made for Kiwi PyCon by the wonderful Julie.
