Kia ora tātou,

At the beginning of March, Python New Zealand held its AGM – welcoming five new officers and three returning officers to the new committee. With a couple of committee meetings under our belt and roles appointed, we’re settling in and looking ahead to what we can achieve in the coming year.

A big focus of this year is to drive openness and engaged collaboration between the New Zealand Python Community and the Python New Zealand Committee – so we are delighted to announce our new initiative…

‘Python NZ Office Hours’

‘Office Hours’ is a concept we’ve borrowed from the ‘PSF Board Office Hours‘, whereby the Python New Zealand Committee will hold a regular monthly casual drop-in session where anyone from the New Zealand Python community can join a virtual hangout with members of the Python New Zealand Committee to talk about priorities, ideas, concerns or most importantly, just connect.

The committee extend this invitation to everyone in the New Zealand Python Community, including our valued friends and contributors from our extended global whānau. You do not need to be a financial member of Python New Zealand to participate.

When: Monthly, on the first Wednesday from 12:30 pm – 1:00 pm (NZST/NZDT)
Where: In the #general voice channel of the Python New Zealand Discord

Kickoff + Meet & Greet with the full committee

To celebrate and kick off this initiative, we’re aiming to have the entire committee present for a meet & greet at the first event scheduled for Wednesday, 6th May.

  • (new) Grace Morgan-Maxwell – Secretary
  • (new) Matt Westwood – Deputy Treasurer
  • (new) William Hamilton – Officer
  • (new) Kelsey Vavasour – Officer
  • (new) Simon Erkelens – Meetups Liason (new role)
  • (returning) Chelsea Finnie – Chairperson
  • (returning) Simon Merrick – Deputy Chairperson
  • (returning) Danny Adair – Treasurer

Come and hang out with the new Python New Zealand Committee – just turn up to hang out or bring along any questions or suggestions – we’ll bring our thoughtful responses and listening caps.
